Working on imaginary GT design, any comments or suggestions?

I'd like to pursue automotive design or engineering one day, but for now, I only have a brain and pencil.

Kinja'd!!!

IT FINALLY ACCEPTED THE IMAGE!

Anyway, my concept will have the classic, but contemporarily done sports car design of long hood, short deck, nicely curved fenders, sloping roofline, very streamlined, clean, low/long/wide with 2+2 seating, Looks like a cross between a One-77 and an F-type.

Any comments or suggestions to improve it?

design and engineering? Those two are very different.

I'm a sucker for round taillights, and think this would look cool with some round highlights in the rear light blades. Possibly staggered to two levels. Think something between the headlight stagger of the TVR Sagaris and the tail lights of the Sagaris or F-type. Just thinking out loud here, that might look like crap.

Oops. I like both, but I meant design or engineering.

1) I love engineering and design. Or both. It's confusing, but I want to pursue automotive design as well.

Just some pointers for this car, try stretching it out a lot more, and squashing the roof. Speaking of the roof, it needs pillars, and I remember this clearly, most car arches follow the wheel all the way round the wheel (took me ALOOOONNNGGG time to figure that out.)

Mirrors?

Also, the hood doesn't have to line up with the wheel arches. So, yours looks very boxy upfront.

But otherwise it's a very nice concept.

Yes and no... I started my studies in engineering. I was doing really well but, I really was passionate about design. So after 2.5 years I stopped studying mechanical engineering I started and finished with Automotive design. There are actually degrees in Engineering design and I found that even though I am a "designer" Having a good knowledge of engineering is very valuable if you want to see your beautiful designs stay beautiful all the way through to production. So El_peasent you can do both! So as for your sketch.... :D I like! try using some coins for the wheels and wheel wells, and use a ruler. that will help with consistency and helping everything stay "clean" Keep using the grid paper for the three 2-dimensional drawings.. this will help later when trying to do expressive emotional perspective sketches. Way to keep the proportions and sizing the same in all three views. other than that... KEEP GOING! and HAVE FUN! :D

once you refine it to your "final proposal" do a top view. Then let me know, I can try to help you set up a perspective grid, and you can give that a try. ;)
